I love a bit of a modern take on a classic shape. The Susan Flared Dress by Glamour Bunny screams 1940s in everything but the colour- the bright Raspberry pink is a far cry from the earthy, more subtle tones featuring in the 40s but it gives it a fresh look.
I’ve mentioned in past posts that I love when Glamour Bunny do flared or swing styles. The bulk of their designs tend to be more fitted wiggle dresses which are gorgeous, but I tend to reach for something with a fuller skirt for everyday wear. Plus, I always have fit issues with a wiggle dress unless it’s custom made since I’m so pear shaped.
There’s been more and more fuller skirt styles from Glamour Bunny in the last year and I’m really enjoying all their bright jewel tones right now.
The Susan Flared Dress has that distinctive 1940s neckline with short sleeves and a flared skirt typical of the era. Skirts got more voluminous after the war when fabric supplies weren’t so scarce. Glamour Bunny never skimp on the little details and I adore the trio of wee buttons at the bust, underbust gathering and ruching at the shoulder.
I’m wearing a size medium which is my usual Glamour Bunny size. My bust measures 36″, waist 27″ and hips 42″ which puts my bust in a size medium, waist in a size small and bottom half in a size large according to the size chart. Because it’s a flared style, I am able to still wear the medium despite my hips.
The bust fits wonderfully, the dress is made out of a stretch cotton fabric which moulds to your curves beautifully. The shape of the neckline is incredibly flattering and I felt like they made my gals look great without being overly exposed. The waist is a tiny bit big for me which is a easy fix with the belt and the skirt fits great.

Thank you to Elizabeth J Photography for the beautiful pictures. It was a bit of a dreary morning at Highwic House but this brightly coloured dress sure popped against all the greenery!
