Girl Power

Women today are not waiting for fate. They are out, building their own empires and going after their career goals with some serious determination. They’re letting go of fear and turning their dreams into a reality by being their own bosses. Aside from that, they are learning how to become their own cheerleader and keep pushing through.

In reality, you don’t have to be a natural-born leader to get started achieving things, all you need to do is practice these tips to make sure you’re always on top! We’ll show you how you can channel your inner #GRLPWR spirit because if anyone can do it, you can too!

1. Start with your fear.

Is there something that you’re putting off or waiting for the right moment? Is there something that scares you? That’s where you need to point your compass. Instead of setting goals, set fears.

Write down the things you are afraid of and think of ways to break those fears — such as how you can avoid and overcome the fear of failure. These fears will lead you to what you should really be doing.

2. Know your style.

Style doesn’t always mean outfit — it also means your manner, ways, and approach on situations. Being your own boss is never what you expect it would be, you have to understand that not everyone will like you, and you have to be okay with that.

Just open to growth and change. A positive, encouraging style is always a good way to go, with a firm and strong personality. And once you’ve achieved that balance, you’ll be the boss lady everybody admires.

3. Surround yourself with inspiration.

Look for someone who truly inspires you on a daily basis and take inspiration from how they achieved their goals. Let their motivation in life cheer you on to follow their footsteps.

For some, they can find their inspiration through their mentors, life-coaches and other successful women like, Kelly Holmes, Oprah Winfrey, J.K. Rowling, and Princess Diana. Their stories of becoming successful are all different but with all the same message — Everything is possible if you believe.

4. Don’t give up so easily.

Did you know that Oprah Winfrey started her on-air career on a rocky start? She was hired as a co-anchor of the evening news and was dropped after just a few months. After that, she had less prestigious jobs including writing and street reporting. She was a low writer and was constantly being yelled at to produce copy faster.  She prefers this to her “first and worst failure of her TV career”. And now, look at her, she became one of the richest and most influential women in the United States — a television personality, actress, and an entrepreneur.

Behind every success, there are countless failures you’ll need to experience. Success isn’t a commitment to one goal, it’s a dedication. For each time you’ll think of giving up, remember why you started. Take heart. It’s not a failure, it’s a near-win.

5. Don’t forget to treat yourself.

Once you have hit your goals, or have had a successful week (even if it’s stressful), it’s important to treat yourself! There is absolutely nothing wrong with rewarding yourself with a glass of wine or two. Because you have smashed that goal, you deserve to feel good about your achievements!

Did you know giving yourself a “me time” could be the best thing for your career? Here’s why: (1) Relaxing is the key to a fresh perspective — it works like a miracle treatment! (2) Taking care of yourself is important in an industry — when you’re out and about to meet people, it’s important to look healthy and well. (3) You’re less likely to have a burn out if you make time for yourself.

6. Be your own reason to smile.

For the moments when you wake up anxious and not feeling on top of the world, try and remember the things in life that will make you smile. Take a nice warm bath, put colours on your nails, read your favourite book or watch your favourite series on Netflix or whichever platform to put yourself in a good mood.

Tell yourself, “I can do this!”, “I’m a survivor”, these will never cease to make your day brighter and will surely spike up your motivation!
